RonPaulCurriculum History Week 19

Christopher Columbus is a famous Italian explorer, born Genoa, Italy in 1451. He read many Marco Polo books and learned many sciences.

King Ferdinand and Isabella, also known as the Catholic Monarchs of Spain funded 4 of his journeys.

Columbus spent 2 years discussing with Ferdinand and Isabella, till they said “yes” they would fund his journeys, in January 1492.

Columbus started his journey in September 1492, his ships were the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. Then he located San Salvador, five weeks after he left.

The “New World” (which is what they called it) was beginning to be explored by many explorers and many other countries.

The continent was found around 1000 AD, but not until Columbus had a big impact on the Europeans.
